Titus the Comfort Dog trains with Local 4186 members

The members of Local 4186 are used to visitors at the firehouse but today’s visitor was a new and special guest. Titus the Comfort Dog stopped by for a visit but this was not just to see the rigs and house, there was a bigger purpose for his trip. Titus is in training to provide comfort and support to people at hospitals, schools, nursing homes, churches and during times of disaster. The firehouse is a great atmosphere for Titus to be exposed to new and interesting stimuli and enhance his training and obedience skills. Each year the members of Local 4186 brave the heat, smoke and grease to grill delicious hamburgers and brats for several hundred campers and visitors. Visitors’ Day is highlighted by a large fire apparatus parade, picnic lunch and a fun fair where local firefighters come to brighten the day.
